YourLifEvents: Our Story

Shauna:

When I was 9 years old, or should I say, when I was almost 9 years old, I planned my birthday party.  I remember taking out a small piece of paper and writing out a very specific timeline that outlined when each event would take place.  From bobbing for apples to eating the cake, I had it written down.

After graduating college with an interior design degree, I moved to San Diego and realized that interior design in its traditional rolls weren’t for me.  I then decided to go to USD to get my Paralegal Certificate and worked in law firms for over 10 years which gave me extensive experience reviewing contracts.  It was there that I began planning holiday parties and other social events and realized that my love for interior design had a place in my life – the love for designing parties.  I finally had found my calling and I was so excited that I was able to utilize my creativity again; it is no surprise that I entered the world of wedding and event planning.

After having the wonderful and unique opportunity to be a part of so many people’s weddings and events, I celebrated another life event of my own – the birth of my son.  This change has inspired me to create the wedding and lifestyle blog you are reading now, YourLifEvents.com.  It is my passion to help people celebrate their own milestones in life.  Writing has also always been a passion of mine and I am so happy to be able to provide our readers with tips, advice and fun projects that will help guide them in creating incredible memories for celebrating their own life events.  After all, “We don’t remember days, we remember moments” and our hope is that we can help you create many memorable moments of your own milestone celebrations.

Sharon:

I have worn many career hats in my life, and now I hold the title of Creative Director at YourLifEvents.

I have been involved in the arts from a very young age. I have been drawing as far back as I can remember, but my very first award was when I was 10 years old; I won a bicycle decorating contest and I was hooked on creative design from then on out.

Now, as an adult, I am an award winning, published and certified professional artist and designer. Prior to working with my daughter, I had my own design business, “Creative Delights” and worked and traveled with an L.A. based company as a designer. I have painted murals, water color paintings and done pen and ink drawings. My work has been published in books and magazines such as Better Homes & Gardens, Crafts & Things, Memory Magic, Decorative Arts Painting, Country Sampler and more. I have designed for several manufactures, including American Traditional Stencils, Loctite, Delta and Duncan Enterprises and community organizations such as March of Dimes, Stephen Stills Green Peace Benefit Concerts and Theater Companies.  I have also had articles published on Organization 101, Trends, Show Them You Mean Business and continuing education topics.  Many of my designs have won awards and one provided me with a valuable scholarship which has given me more education and artistic appreciation.

I was proud to be a part of  D.I.F.F.A., Design Industry Foundation For Aids, where my painted Levi jacket was picked as a runway auction item with the likes of  Whoopi Goldberg, Steven Guttenberg, Tom Cruise, Madonna and other celebrities.

As you can see my diverse work experience has a long range of accomplishments and wonderful experiences. From a choreographer of a theater company to working at City Hall in the office of the Mayor and a City Councilman, my life has never been boring. I have owned businesses and been in managerial positions of others. I have also coordinated and planned the annual fund raising events for the Valley Children’s Hospital of Central California and continue to donate my time to local neighborhood events and parties here in San Diego.

There isn’t much that can’t be produced in my art studio!  This is where I draw much of my inspiration and create new and fun designs and decor projects.  I am excited to be on this journey with my daughter where I can continue to create,  support and inspire our mother/daughter team.
